Position Title: Editor, Eurasia Daily Monitor

The Jamestown Foundation is seeking an Editor for its Eurasia Daily Monitor publication. EDM is a daily publication published 48 weeks a year. Candidates should have a background in publishing and editing online publications—with an interest or background in Russia and the post-Soviet space.

The Jamestown Foundation is a non-profit research organization specializing in conflict, instability and security issues in Eurasia and the Middle East. The Foundation is nonpartisan and has earned a reputation for providing valuable insights and objective analysis to the diplomatic, intelligence, business and academic communities.

Responsibilities Include:

- Corresponding and communicating with the contributing authors and EDM analysts in order to oversee the quality and content of the publication;

- Overseeing the daily editing and distribution of Eurasia Daily Monitor;

- Receiving articles directly from the contributing authors and coordinating the activities of EDM analysts;

- Editing articles thoroughly and preparing the EDM publication for style and format on a daily basis in accordance with EDM style guidelines;

- Posting EDM on a daily basis to the Jamestown website.

Qualifications:

- BA in Russian/Eurasian affairs or related field required, MA preferred;
- Editing experience is mandatory;
- Native speaker of English is required.

Salary commensurate with experience. Position is off-site and part-time and offers no benefits but offers two weeks paid vacation in August and two weeks paid vacation in December. This position is well suited to consultants who work from home.

Position Title: Writers

Honorarium paid on a per article basis dependent on word count

Jamestown is seeking writers for its Eurasia Daily Monitor, China Brief and terrorism publications. Jamestown seeks Arabic speakers to contribute occasionally to its terrorism publications. Those based overseas are encouraged to inquire.

Position Title: Research Intern, China Brief

The Jamestown Foundation is looking to immediately fill a part-time, unpaid, three-month-long research project for an undergraduate, graduate student or recent graduate who is interested in gaining practical experience in Chinese foreign and defense policy. The Jamestown internship presents prospective interns with an opportunity to work directly with the Associate Editor of China Brief in weekly off-site research.

The Jamestown Foundation is a non-profit research organization specializing in conflict, instability and security issues in Eurasia and the Middle East. Utilizing our network of indigenous sources, Jamestown enlists world-class experts to analyze and interpret new challenges facing the United States in the post-9/11 world. The Foundation is nonpartisan and has earned a reputation for providing valuable insights and objective analysis to the diplomatic, intelligence, business and academic communities.

The candidate should have excellent editing, organizational and administrative skills, with an interest and background in Chinese policy in Eurasia. Since the internship is off-site, the ideal candidate should demonstrate that he or she is able to take initiative, and diligently execute research assignments to meet assigned deadlines successfully.

Qualifications:

- BA in Political Science, Asian Studies, International Studies or related field preferred but not required;
- Chinese language ability is also preferred, but not required.
